Wickens worked in partnership with Acorn Storage Equipment Ltd to supply and install additional storage facilities at Doré Metals new site in Sittingbourne. They required a variety of different racking systems to store metal alloys.
Acorn Storage Equipment Ltd are comprehensive suppliers of a variety of new and used warehouse pallet racking and other storage solutions in the UK . Their customer Doré Metals are one of the UK’s leading metal distributors based in Sittingbourne. When they recently moved premises they contacted Acorn to utilise the existing racking and provide additional storage. They required a series of racks to store various lengths of metal alloys.
Acorn were able to utilise the suitable existing racking within an imaginative solution which included additional new products from Wickens.
Wickens worked closely both with Neil Wood of Acorn and Mike Lane, MD of Doré Metals, to understand, in detail, the project requirements. It was this partnership of a local company, able to deliver a responsive service, coupled with the specialist knowledge and advice available from Wickens which created the optimum proposal for Doré Metals.
Neil Wood has a long history working with Wickens and was confident that he and Alan could work together to deliver the best solution for Doré Metals. The final solution, using a combination of cantilever racking, vertical racking and barrier protection systems, has enabled Doré to maximise stock location and minimise selection times. Mike Lane felt that the design input was very important, ultimately resulting in a stronger, more flexible solution. He was pleased with the project as a whole and would ‘be happy to work with all concerned again in the future’.
